Pandemic
According to Google, "a pandemic is a global outbreak of disease". Pandemics happen when a new virus emerges to infect people and can spread between people sustainably. Because there is little to no pre-existing immunity against the new virus, it spreads worldwide. The majority of the time pandemics have been caused by influenza or otherwise known as the flu.  An example of a recent and deadly pandemic known in history was the Spanish Flu of 1918.  The Spanish Flu infected more than 500 million people worldwide about one-third of the world’s population killing an estimation of 20 million to 50 million people.  The first signs of the flu were located in Europe then moving across the United States and Asia so after all across the world. During that time there were no drugs or vaccines to stop this virus. They also had to wear masks and gloves while schools, theater, businesses were shut down. For example, we are in a current pandemic called COVID-19 better known as the CoronaVirus. During this pandemic, people are supposed to stay in their homes but only have permission to leave your house to go to the market, to get groceries for your family. While other businesses such as theaters, schools, malls, restaurants, amusement parks, etc…. It’s still unknown where the strain of the Influenza came from that caused the pandemic. The flu became known as the Spanish flu as Spain was the number one place in the world that eas affected by the disease. Around 3 percent of the world’s population was affected by the Spanish Flu. By the summer of 1919, the pandemic came to end as people who were infected either died or developed immunity from the disease. Thirty-Eight years later after the Spanish Flu Pandemic, a new virus started to appear in Asia. The 1957 flu pandemic also known as the Asian flu pandemic of 1957 was the outbreak of influenza that was first identified in February 1957 in East Asia (Singapore). The 1957 flu pandemic was the second major influenza besides the Spanish flu that affected the 20th century. The outbreak of the 1957 flu was caused by a virus better known as influenza. By Midsummer, it reached the United States, only believing that a few people were infected by the virus but that wasn’t the case at all. Months later people were infected especially younger children, elderly people, and pregnant women.  By December of 1957 more than 3,550  deaths had been reported in England and Wales. Some of those who were infected had symptoms such as fever, cold, cough, and pneumonia. People who were not affected by the virus were believed to have been covered by antibodies to other influenza strains from the past.  After the pandemic was over the estimation of death was between one million to two million people worldwide. Becoming one of the worst pandemics of the twentieth century.
It’s tough during this CoronaVirus Pandemic for everyone worldwide. As of today April 12, 2020, there are more than 1,849,658 while deaths are 113,274 worldwide. It’s sad watching the news every day talking about the number of new cases of COVID 19 and the number of deaths each day.  New York is the number one state in America that is affected by the CoronaVirus. The report every day that more than 700 people died in New York. Hearing that makes your heartache. It’s been reported that the death rate is lower in California is due to that COVID 19 has been in California since December of 2019 but that we have built immunity during that time which shocked me due to the fact that California is one of the biggest states in the country. It’s also Scary that you can’t leave your house without a mask and gloves. I feel like it’s an apocalypse. Going to the market and seeing people with masks and being six feet away from each other is freaky. But I’m also thankful and proud of people who work in the Medical Field. They work more than 13 hours a day with no breaks, sacrificing there lives to save those who need it. They are true Heroes. Not all heroes wear capes! Very soon the Virus will go away but until that happens we still need to wash our hands and still social distance from people while wearing masks and gloves.  This Pandemic made me realize that life is to short to be complaining and being negative, it showed me to enjoy the life that I'm living right now because you never know what will happen in the Future
